I have put together a two hour drum and bass special for the London (UK) based internet radio station http://www.rewindit.fm. Initially our plan was to air a techno set, however after reviewing my stuff on soundcloud they requested that I put together a two hour drum and bass set instead. Naturally I was happy to oblige, as drum and bass is the reason I discovered most of the electronic music that I currently enjoy.

My pallete of drum and bass music is absolutely massive, so it was a little difficult to choose tracks for this mix simply because there were so many that I wanted to include. I played it through a few times to get the energy just right, fine tuning the track selection after each session. I settled on an arrangement that let me exercise a few different styles of mixing, and one that exudes quite a varied spectrum of emotion.

Expect this mix to start off slow with cuts from Metalheadz and similar labels, with a gradual increase of energy taking you to some heavier stuff off of MethLab, eventually moving into festival grade double drops and bangers, and ending with liquid Lenzman style rollers and eventually a few sentimental Offworld tracks to close it off properly.

Recently, www.6am-group.com hosted a mix contest. The rules were simple – limit of 60 minutes, must be a fresh set, and must be techno. I love a challenge, so naturally I took it on and submitted a mix. My rough objective when assembling this set was to see how high i could push the energy with only 60 minutes, while also keeping the mixing as tight as possible. I’m fairly happy with the outcome, there is only one spot i would re-assess if I were to do the whole adventure again (see kas:st to fautzi).

I picked songs from some of my favorite labels at the moment, and included a throwback from my hardcore days in 2007 to finish it off at a high energy point. Labels included:
